20 weeks and feeling GREAT!

Half way Baby! I am feeling great and we had an amazing time on our trip! I am updating this post because the day after my original post, Fri, March 3rd, I got a call from my doctor's office with the results from my ultrasound that I had Wed, March 1st. First, she said that everything looks great with the baby. They couldn't see his whole heart so they need to do a follow up ultrasound just to make sure everything is clear. Then, she said that I have placenta previa, which means my placenta is covering my cervix. So, I will be having a c-section and we can not have any intercourse through the rest of the pregnancy. I also can not do any weight training more than 30 lbs. We scheduled an ultrasound in 3 weeks and at that point they will check it again as well as his heart. They will also determine if I have full previa, where the placenta is attached on both sides of the cervix. If this is the case, then they will watch me very closely and the c-section will be the only option. If by some chance, my placenta moves away from my cervix, there is a very small chance that I can do a vaginal birth again. They don't seem to think this is very likely. I had a low-lying placenta with Jolie also but my doctor didn't really think I would end up with a C-section and I didn't. This time my new doctor is a lot more concerned, hence the restrictions. My cousin, Laraine, has the same thing! And it only occurs in 5% of pregnancies. As her pregnancy has progressed her restrictions have just increased and she also found out last week that she is absolutely having a C-section. She is 29 weeks along. She will have another ultrasound in 5 weeks and they will begin steroid shots to help the baby's lungs develop. Then, she will have her C-section between 36 and 38 weeks. So if my pregnancy progresses similarly to hers, we may end up with a June baby after all haha. I feel worried and it sucks that there is literally nothing that I can do for the next 3 1/2 months to change any of the outcomes.

14 weeks: It's a BOY!

January 16, 2017

(Picture from last week)

Today was the day! We went to Fetal Fotos and found out that Jolie has been right all along. Our baby is a BOY!!! Skyler and I are both so thrilled! We went right after work and baby boy wasn't shy at all! We got a lot of great profile and face shots and of course the money shot of his boy parts! No question! It was very clear and unmistakable! I felt like it was a boy all along, especially because Jolie said it was a boy EVERY time we asked, no matter how we phrased the questions. Then, a couple weeks ago I started having anxiety that I was wrong and it was actually a girl. I want Jolie to have a sister but I REALLY wanted this one to be a boy. I just needed at least one boy and I'm so happy I get him now! He feels like such a gift from my Heavenly Father. Jolie has been such a joy and has made me grow to know and understand God's love for me so much. I can't get enough of her and her fun, spunky personality and I absolutely can't imagine a life without her perfect little soul in it. At the same time, I have wanted a boy for so long and I feel like getting a boy now, after waiting so long to finally get pregnant, is God giving me a little nod. Like, I know it's been hard, I've been saving this boy for you. I'm so grateful for both my perfect babies. Like I said, being Jolie's mother is true joy and happiness and has given me so much! And I can't wait for this new little man to come into our lives as well.

We invited both of our families to come over for a quick reveal. We had Jolie open a box of blue balloons and let them fly out for everyone to see! It was so fun! I think the majority of people thought we were having a boy too, so it wasn't a huge shock haha! It was a lot of fun! His name will be Cooper Skyler Kevern, which is the name we have had picked out since we were first dating! And have fought two out of three of Skyler's siblings for! We are so happy to finally be getting our Coopdy!

Baby Update: 1st Trimester is Over!

Hello! All is well in baby land so far. We've just finished up the holidays and have had so much fun with each other, Jolie, our families and friends! My friends Chantel and Halee both had their baby boys before Christmas and Skyler's sister, Whitney had the twins, RaeLynn and John on December 28, 2016! They are so tiny and sweet! We also found out that my sister-in-law Becca is having another baby about 5 weeks after me! Their first baby Sawyer just turned 6 months old!

At my first Dr appt, my doctor felt the baby was smaller than my last period would have made it. So the following week I had a quick ultrasound to measure the baby and determine my correct due date. He pushed it back 5 days to July 16, 2017. I told my work and it went okay. Jim and Michelle were pretty awkward but everyone else is happy and excited for me. I had another Dr appt this week and we heard the heart beat! It was fast, about 160 beats per minute. In a week and a few days we have an appointment to go to Fetal Fotos for our gender determination ultrasound! I can't wait! Laraine and my cousin Cory's wife Caitee are due May 19th and May 20th respectively. Laraine is having a girl and Caitee is having a boy!

We have had an awesome couple of weeks! Skyler got me a bunch of relaxation themed Christmas gifts so I have taken lots of baths and loved being pampered by the gifts from my love! We have taken Jolie sledding a few times and she LOVED it!
She has had a blast with her cousins or "my kids" as she calls them. And Skyler and I have loved having some shorter weeks thanks to the holidays. We are planning a trip to San Diego, Disneyland and Universal Studios the week of Valentine's Day and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

Baby Kevern #2

We found out that I am pregnant! Monday, November 14:

Nov 14th: Jolie has a terrible cold and so Skyler stayed home with her today. I have been having some weird pain so I called the doctor and when I told them that I was 8 days late the nurse said to take a test and find out for sure if I'm pregnant and get an over the counter medicine for the pain and infection. I went to the grocery store on my way home for lunch and grabbed the medicine and a pregnancy test. I hurried home because I had to go to the bathroom. I even texted Skyler to have him unlock the door so I could get in fast. I hurried in, gave Jolie a big hug and kiss and went into the bathroom. She came in with me and asked what I was doing as she saw me peeing on the stick haha. I said I'm doing a test to see if there is a baby in my tummy and skyler said oh my babe stop wasting money on pregnancy tests. This being 1 year and 10 months since I got my iud out and having no luck getting pregnant so far. I told him the nurse told me to take the test cuz it determined which medication I could take for the pain. I was telling him about things that had happened on my drive home and was glancing at the timer on the test, fully expecting it to be negative. So much so that when the word Pregnant popped up on the little screen I gasped loudly from the shock of it and then immediately burst into tears. I stepped out of the bathroom and Skyler knew it was positive from my reaction haha. I was so shocked and overwhelmed by my emotions. We have been trying, sometimes halfheartedly and sometimes aggressively, for so long that I didn't really know how to feel now that it is happening! It doesn't feel real! It just feels like it's pretend. Jolie was so cute she kept saying mama why you cryyyyin? With a little silly smile and skyler kept telling her I was happy. After I burst into tears initially I stepped out of the bathroom and just kind of collapsed in the floor and was hugging Jolie and telling her there's a baby in mommys tummy and she kept smiling and saying I wanna see. And skyler got up off the couch and came and sat on the floor with us and we hugged and kissed and just talked about how I really didn't think it was ever going to happen! It still feels not real! We are going to tell Skyler's family on Sunday with a shirt Jolie is going to wear that says big sister and I'm going to try to wait to tell my family on thanksgiving when we talk about what we are thankful for and say I'm thankful for our new baby :) my due date is July 11th, my Dad's bday!

We did tell Skyler's family exactly how we had planned. It was really fun and they were excited. I kinda snuck into the party at Jenny's house, grabbed Jo and went to the bathroom to put the shirt on her. We showed Nana first because I was helping her get in and out of the other bathroom. Then we went up to were Kim and Whitney were sitting, kind of in the center of everyone, and Jolie said "Mimi, look at my shirt!"

On Tuesday, two days before Thanksgiving, I was so sick and I didn't want my mom to figure out that I was pregnant. We went upstairs and she was on the phone for FOREVER! We went in and Jolie told Grandpa, "there's a baby in mommy's tummy!" When my mom finally got off the phone, Jolie told her as well and she was really excited and surprised! Then we called Aunt Lissa, Aunt Jill, Aunt Brinna and Uncle Trevor and Jolie told each of them. We tried to call Mandi and Lauren but neither of them answered so we sent Mandi a Marco Polo with a text telling her to watch it and we called Uncle Kenyon, who also didn't answer! He called me back so Jolie told him as well! I had already told Garrett on Sunday and Andria on Monday night. I also told all my Book Club girls on Sunday which was really fun! They all pretty much cried and were so excited for us! Rose is only 2 weeks ahead of me so we are both super sick and going through it together! This is her third baby. Chantel is going to have her 2nd little boy, Jude, in just a few weeks too!

On Thanksgiving, some of our Bell cousins had joined us for Thanksgiving so I didn't really want to say anything because I am still only 7 weeks along. But after we ate, Laraine, Andrew and Knox came over and Knox was wearing a shirt that said "Mommy's got a little Turkey in the Oven!" She is 14 weeks along! I had kind of known but wasn't 100% sure so I had been putting off telling her because I wanted to wait until she told me first. I grabbed Jolie and told her to tell Knox that there's a baby in mommy's tummy. Laraine thought that she was talking about her baby until Terran said "oh you are having a baby too?" She said, "Too??" And was looking around and I just gave her a guilty smile haha. She and Jordan both asked me if I was pregnant the day that I found out and I lied to both of them and said no! I felt bad but I had just found out!

So I was pretty sick the first week that we found out but it wasn't too bad. This week, however, has been AWFUL! This pregnancy is already so different than with Jolie! With her, I was mostly okay during the day but I would get horrible headaches every afternoon and go home and sleep for a couple hours after work every day haha! I was also SO congested with her right from the beginning but so far so good! Of course with a 2 1/2 year old that isn't an option this time around! Every morning is really rough because I get really hot when I am carrying her, her bag and my bag up the stairs and out to the car. The worst days are Skyler's early days when he is already at work so he can't help me get her in the car. On Wednesday, I had to pull over in the neighborhood and dry heave. I definitely would have thrown up but there was nothing in my stomach yet to throw up. The whole time Jolie was like "where you going? why you going outside? what's happening mama?" I said "hold on, Jo!" When I was finished I told her that the baby is making mama sick and throw up. Then she asked, "why your eyes crying mama?" and I said "Because throwing up is no fun and it makes my eyes cry" haha! She is so funny and so aware of what is going on all the time! Whenever we ask her if it is a boy baby or a girl baby she answers that it is a boy without fail EVERY TIME! Once she said girl, and then immediately laughed and said, "I teasing, boy!" It will be so funny if she is right come January!!

The only thing that is not great is the timing with work. I am due in July! The busiest season for an Air Conditioning company! I am afraid that Jim and some of the other people at work are going to be super rude about my pregnancy :( I'm not going to tell them at least until after I get my Christmas bonus.

Okay, now on to the questionnaire: I'm going to try really hard to actually do this for this pregnancy!

Moments of Motherhood

My love bug is having trouble sleeping tonight. She caught her dad's cold and it is tormenting her little body. As I rocked and cuddled my normally UNcuddly baby, I tried to memorize every detail. The texture of her soft baby curls. The smell of her freshly-bathed sweet baby head. The rhythm of her slowing breaths. The weight of her in my arms as she fully relaxed. And her perfect tiny hand pausing from stroking bunny's ear to reach up and rest on my cheek. It has been an extraordinary and humbling eleven months since she was first placed in my anxious arms. I am continually amazed by the privilege it is to be entrusted with her, with this gift. I knew my life was changed forever when I looked in her already blue eyes and said "hi baby, I'm your mama". I never knew I could love so BIG. My heart is covered in her tiny fingerprints. This blink in my life has shaped me into an entirely new being. A mother. Her mother. I know as the years pass and she grows, my memory of her as she is now will dim. So I just had to write it down this time. So I can always remember what it felt like. To capture the fleeting moments that disappear too quickly and are few and far between. To never forget the breath of time when I was able to hold my precious angel and cherish the quiet night of rocking her to sleep. Jolie, my perfect little sparkle, stop growing up! I just barely got you and I'm not ready for you to get bigger!

Baby Kevern week 6

So we told our families this week and that was really fun! Skyler's sis Whitney was just laughing and screaming "Are you SERIOUS?" His mom kept asking "Are you guys telling the truth!?" Haha! My mom is still in complete shock! She is super excited that since we just moved to their basement apartment so this new grandbaby won't ever go home! Skyler's mom will probably end up watching our baby while I work so they will both get lots of baby time! =) All of my siblings were really excited and surprised too! It was a lot of fun! I still can't believe this is really real!

Both our dad's are more quiet so they didn't have much to say.
Later, my dad and I had this funny conversation:
Tricia: "Are you ready for your favorite grandchild to be born?"
Dad: Laughs "The one I'm supposed to spoil the most?"
Tricia: "Yep!"
Dad: "How are you gonna do all those stairs?" (We live in the basement.)
Tricia: Laughs "I don't know! I'm gonna be huge!
Dad: "No you won't, you'll work out!"

HAHA love my dada!

We told a lot of our friends and family and I am very excited to tell my close girlfriends at book club on Friday night!

The tech said that I was measuring about 5 weeks. Oh and my cyst is gone but I do have 2 cysts on my left ovary now! The tech said that is normal for early pregnancy though.
